Intern for the European Union Support to Higher Education in the ASEAN Region Project (SHARE) at the DAAD Regional Office Jakarta

 

The SHARE Project at the DAAD Regional Office in Jakarta offers internship for the EU Support to Higher Education in the ASEAN Region (SHARE) project. The preferred starting date is 8 January 2018 for a maximum duration of 180 days. The main task is to support the technical management of SHARE result area 2a and 2b (Qualifications Frameworks and Quality Assurance). The activities will take place throughout the ASEAN region.

 

Background 

The project aims at strengthening regional cooperation, enhancing quality, regional competitiveness and internationalization of ASEAN higher education institutions, contributing to an ASEAN Community in 2015 and beyond.

 

About the internship 

The Intern assists the Program Manager in providing support on monitoring and evaluation, planning and conduct of activities and logistics in accordance with EU regulations. He or she will work in a team based in Jakarta, in close cooperation with DAAD staff located at DAAD’s global headquarter in Bonn, Germany. Occasional travels throughout the ASEAN region might be necessary.

 

He or she reports to the Program Manager. The place of performance is Jakarta, Indonesia.

 

The key responsibilities of the intern include but are not limited to: 

  • Support the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of Result Area 2
  • Support the technical management of the SHARE project in implementing result area 2a and 2b
  • Communicate with partner organisations in ASEAN, experts and event participants from both Europe and the ASEAN region.
  • Draft planning documents under guidance from DAAD staff
  • Assist in preparing the logistical requirements before or during events related to the project.
  • Assist in administrative formalities related to travel arrangements such as flight bookings and issuance of visas as requested by the Program Officer.
  • Attend and take minutes during project meetings and related events as requested by the Program Manager.

 

Qualifications and previous Work Experience 

  • Minimum third year undergraduate student in a relevant field of study, preferably international relations, political sciences, economics, communication, etc. Post-graduate not necessary
  • Some work experience desired (internships, part-time work, etc.)

 

Key Competencies 

  • Excellent English Language skills: full professional proficiency in both speaking and writing
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to fulfill tasks accurately and in timely manner
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills
  • Some knowledge of ASEAN education policy will be an asset
  • Knowledge of at least one Southeast Asian language and/or German is an asset
  • Ability to cope with the daily live in the capital of an Asian emerging market country.

 

Renumeration:

The DAAD Regional Office will support the intern with a housing grant.
