In her presentation, Sheila gives a brief overview on the most important developments in Indonesian comics history from the early beginnings in the first half of the twentieth century, thereby introduces her countries’ classics like RA Kosasih and Teguh Santosa until she presents the trends and representations of comic art and its protagonist in Indonesia today, of which Sheila herself is a successful representative.

Her presentation is based on the current exhibition on Indonesian Comics »Equatorial Imagination«, curated by Hikmet Darmawan & Michel Wittock, shown from November 22, 2017 until January 21, 2018 in Bibliotheca Wittstockiana, as a part of the Europalia Festival in Brussels.
